Inês Carvalho
(Portuguese, b. 1996. Lives and works in Zurich)
Inês Carvalho’s
works vibrate to an inner beat which can be felt through her use of
repetition, layering and various patterns. She explores different
surfaces and material which challenge perception and one's notion of
boundaries - both physical and psychological. An invitation to immerse
oneself in a mesmeric experience, rough and uneven edges portray the
only visible borders while glass becomes an obstacle to appreciation.
Carvalho is currently pursuing a MA in Fine Arts at the ZHdK (Zurich, Switzerland). She also holds a BA Fine Arts from the Escola Superior de Artes e Design (Caldas da Rainha, Portugal) and completed an internship as Production Assistant at Studio Amélie Esterházy (Berlin, Germany).
Carvalho’s previous solo and group exhibitions include (selection): How to build an Oerlikon dream house, Zurich, Switzerland (2023); Poles Royce, Fondation ZHdK, Zurich, Switzerland (2023); Too Hot to Sell, Hotel Tiger, Zurich, Switzerland (2023); X-Rough, Shirana Shahbazi Studio, Zurich, Switzerland (2022); Chave na Serradura, Arquipélago Centro de Artes, Ilha São Miguel, Portugal (2022); Battlefields, Sudhaus Residency, Pillham, Germany (2021); we are O P E N, Open, Berlin, Germany (2020); Future Forms and Fiction, Schau Fenster, Berlin, Germany (2020); É bom ouvir a voz de quem está vivo, CCP, Vila Nova de Poiares, Portugal (2020).
