Lucie Kohler

(Swiss, b. 1985. Lives and works in Lausanne)

Lucie Kohler holds a bachelor degree from HEAD Geneva and a master degree from Ecole de Recherche Graphique Bruxelles. She lives and works in Lausanne. Kohler won the Prix du jury du Musée de Pully in 2024 and her works are part of the collections of Musée d’art de Pully, Museo Villa dei Cedri Bellinzona, and The Swiss Post.

Kohler works primarily with colored pencil on paper, creating vibrant, precise compositions where the everyday collides with the surreal. Her richly textured drawings transform natural motifs, mythical figures, and hybrid bodies into scenes that oscillate between humor and unease, reflecting the pressures and absurdities of contemporary life.

Through meticulous linework and vibrant color layering, Kohler crafts vivid worlds where reality is both familiar and strangely twisted, capturing the fragile balance between control and transformation.
Select exhibitions include Humanilia, Centre d’Art Contemporain, Yverdon (2025), Something is cooking, Galerie Richter, Buxtorf, Lausanne (solo, 2024), Giardino di acclimatazione, Museo Villa dei Cedri, Bellinzona (2024), Les ruisseaux aériens, Ferme de la Chapelle, Lancy (2023), Cherry picking, La Friche, Saint-Ursanne (2023), Smoke on the water, Forma art contemporain, Lausanne (solo, 2022), Materia, Ferme des Tilleuls, Renens (2022), Melting pot, Centre d’Art Contemporain, Yverdon (2022), Sour jungle, hybrid hands, Galerie Vanha Kappalaisentalo, Porvoo, Finland (2021), Après-moi le déluge, Galerie Forma art contemporain, Lausanne (solo, 2020), Des seins à desseins, Espace Arlaud, Lausanne (2020).
