Shaping Myths.
20 September - 15 November 2025Private Residence, Old Town Geneva
A duo show with works by
Alina Kopytsia and Nadia Sawas
Myths shape how we see the world, and ourselves. The exhibition “Shaping Myths” explored their influence, showing how ancient narratives have reinforced societal norms and inviting us to question, subvert, and reshape them.
Nadia Sawas' expressive paintings combine color, texture, and fragments of text to revisit inherited myths. Her works examine the rules imposed on the female and queer bodies, as well as broader questions of emotion and belonging. Alina Kopytsia's embroidery and textile collages weave personal memory, mythology, and contemporary culture, challenging perceptions of gender, social norms, and intimacy. Her most recent works reflect on motherhood alongside earlier playful critiques of personal and societal roles.
Together, their works invited viewers to reconsider the myths that define us and imagine new possibilities for desire, connection, and identity.
